"The team at Dot ID has been exceptional to work with. While they are extremely talented at design they also take into account manufacturability based on the process selected. They are an excellent addition to our in-house engineering team and share the same goal of creating excellent products. I highly recommend Dot ID."

The Opportunity
Dojo’s brand is built on delivering more than just off-the-shelf hardware, they strive
to enhance user experience through thoughtful design. They approached Dot ID to develop a solution that would extend the terminal’s contactless range without requiring modifications to the core device.
RevAir has built a strong reputation for creating innovative products that solve real problems in beauty and haircare. Looking to build on the success of its hair-drying technology, the team approached Dot ID to reimagine a classic hair styling product: the heated hot roller.
The ambition was to create a fresh, contemporary take on hot rollers that could deliver the volume and movement of a professional blow-dry, quickly and effortlessly.

The Solution
Working closely with a technologist and our manufacturing network, we designed and engineered a bespoke protective case embedded with advanced technology to enhance NFC connectivity. This solution significantly improved transaction reliability while maintaining full compatibility with Dojo’s existing terminal.
Beyond functionality, Dojo required a premium look and feel that aligned with their brand’s presence in high-end hospitality and retail spaces. Our team designed a durable, single-piece case using insert and twin-shot injection molding, ensuring:
-
Effortless integration – No assembly required; users simply attach the case to the device.
-
Robust protection – Enhanced durability for busy retail environments.
-
Hygienic design – A seamless, easy-to-clean surface.
Working from the internal electronics and technical architecture, we developed a clean, sculptural aesthetic that brings a new level of sophistication to the category. Drawing on years of collaboration across multiple RevAir projects, the design extends and strengthens the brand identity while creating a distinctive new product within its portfolio.

The Impact
Launched in 2024, the Dojo NFC case has been met with overwhelmingly positive feedback from merchants, improving both payment efficiency and overall user experience. This project is a testament to how thoughtful product design can solve real-world challenges, enhancing technology without compromising aesthetics
or usability.
Every detail was considered through the lens of the user experience. We refined the form around ergonomic interactions, carefully balancing the functional constraints of the technology with intuitive handling and a seamless styling experience.
The result is a contemporary interpretation of a familiar beauty tool, combining RevAir’s technology and performance with a distinctive design language built for the next generation of at-home styling.

Enhancing Contactless Payments with Smart Design
The Challenge
Dojo, a leading player in the B2B FinTech space,
is known for providing seamless payment experiences in restaurants, bars and retail environments. However, they identified a key limitation in one of their payment terminals: a restricted range for contactless transactions. This limitation caused frustration for both merchants and customers, prompting the need for an innovative solution.
The Opportunity
Dojo’s brand is built on delivering more than just off-the-shelf hardware, they strive to enhance user experience through thoughtful design. They approached Dot ID to develop a solution that would extend the terminal’s contactless range without requiring modifications to the core device.
