Brand Aligned Product Protection

SunSynk has spent many years at the cutting edge of innovative sustainable energy capture products.

The engineering team at Sunsynk approached Dot ID to create a fresh aesthetic for its range of home energy inverter products. In an emerging and increasingly competitive sector, Sunsynk needed to stand out from the crowd with a distinctive visual identity. We translated this into a 3D product language that balanced strong visual character with the technical and production constraints of the existing platform.

The Challenge

Dojo needed a precision-engineered protective case for their existing payment terminals, one that not only safeguarded the device but also enhanced charging functionality and ensured seamless usability. Their previous case had failed to meet key functional requirements, leading them to partner with Dot ID for a refined solution.

The Solution

We worked closely with Dojo to design, engineer and set up production for a case that delivers on four critical fronts:

  • Optimised charging – Designed for a perfect fit, allowing uninterrupted charging.

  • Enhanced protection – Rigorously tested through multiple prototypes to withstand demanding retail and hospitality environments.

  • Easy attachment & removal – Ensuring simple maintenance for busy merchants.

  • Hygienic design – Essential for food and beverage settings, enabling effortless cleaning.

Material selection was key, we chose a durable, easy-to-clean material that provides both strong protection and a premium feel. Additionally, we incorporated customisation options, allowing merchants to personalise their cases with brand colours and markings, reinforcing their own identity while using Dojo’s technology.

Dot ID began by understanding Sunsynk's brand and users journey and how these valuable aspects could be expressed through physical form and improved user experience. From this, we developed a clear 3D brand language and explored a series of sketch concepts that brought it to life. The resulting design introduced a number of considered functional details, including integrated shielding around connector ports for a cleaner appearance and a raised outer frame that concealed less desirable technical elements.

The new product also needed to work within Sunsynk’s established manufacturing processes. Rather than reinventing the production approach, we worked closely with these existing capabilities, supporting the team to create distinctive forms, refined details and a strong visual identity for the Sunsynk Acure inverter range.

The Impact

With thousands of cases now in use across various merchant settings, this solution not only extends device longevity but also ensures optimal performance, all while aligning with Dojo’s premium brand experience.

Every aspect of the design was developed with performance and practicality in mind. Details were carefully considered to ensure the internals remained sealed to an IP65 rating while still allowing straightforward access for servicing and maintenance. At the same time, the overall architecture was designed to simplify installation, helping the product move from box to wall as efficiently as possible.

The result is a new generation of Sunsynk hardware that combines robust engineering with a distinctive, contemporary aesthetic that brings energy technology into the home in a way that feels considered rather than purely functional.
